La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Blanc
La Quintinye (EWG Spirits & Wine / Familia Torres)
Vermutpedia Score: 7.7/10
Overall impression
La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Blanc is the white expression of the Royal trio—alongside Rouge and Extra Dry—made by EWG Spirits & Wine in the French Charente with Familia Torres backing. The delicate union of eighteen herbs with white wines and white Pineau des Charentes yields what laquintinyevermouthroyal.com calls a nectar brimming with roundness and flavour. Golden in colour, semisweet, round and fruity, with Pineau as the territorial signature that sets La Quintinye apart from conventional Italian or Spanish vermouths. The range shares twelve common plants and spices plus six botanicals exclusive to the Blanc. Named for Jean-Baptiste de la Quintinye, gardener to Louis XIV, it embodies French aperitif elegance at sixteen percent alcohol in 75 cl format.
Nose and palate
The official sheet describes a savoury, captivating aroma releasing floral and fruity notes with sweet wormwood and orange-peel nuances. On the nose, fresh lemon and ripe yellow fruit—coherent with white Pineau des Charentes—interweave with flowers and soft spice. The palate is sweet and elegant, revealing yellow-fruit maturity wrapped in gentle sweetness and spice; full roundness, integrated wormwood bitterness and a persistent fruity-floral finish. Broader but refined texture—less dry than the house Extra Dry (twenty-seven herbs, floral-citrus dominance) and less intense than the Rouge (twenty-eight herbs, vanilla, liquorice, plum, chocolate). Against Italian whites, La Quintinye Blanc brings unmistakable Pineau character: ripe fruit, Charentais elegance and semisweet balance.
How to serve it
La Quintinye positions the Blanc for very cold aperitif service and cocktails where Pineau character should shine. Serve between 4 and 6 °C in a wine or cocktail glass; lemon or orange twist lifts declared citrus and peel notes. Excellent neat over ice for a slow aperitif showing yellow fruit and florality. In mixology: white Martini, gin or vodka combinations, or variations where the modifier adds fruity roundness without excess sweetness. Also with light soda or tonic for summer service. Pairs with foie gras, creamy cheeses, shellfish and delicate appetisers. Store cool after opening.
