Why Spanish vermouth is shining again

Spain is living through a second golden age of vermouth. After decades dominated by industrial brands, century-old Priorat cooperatives now sit alongside artisan projects from Jaén or Galicia, the Basque author school, and classics from Reus, Aragon, or Andalusia — all with local botanicals, native grapes, and limited editions.

At Vermutpedia we analyse references from across the country using the same tasting protocol. The podium updates with each new review: today, standouts include expressions from the Basque Country (Txurrut), Galicia (Cuppedia), Jaén (Mon Dieu!, Papatán), the Priorat (Falset Reserva), or Navarre (Bocamanga), plus reserve editions from Reus and Aragon.

How we built this ranking

The order follows the Vermutpedia Score (0–10 scale), an independent editorial rating described in our methodology. Only vermouths with a published score are included — we exclude quinquinas, quinados, and other aperitif families even when they share the same country. The table at the top shows the top 15; the listing below lets you compare the more than four hundred Spanish profiles in the catalogue.
