Overall impression

Olave Reserva Rojo Especial closes the Reus trilogy of Celler Sort del Castell: the most structured, most alcoholic expression (18% vol.) of a range reborn in 2014 within the Oratvin project. Against Olave Rojo (16%), Reserva bets on greater power, velvety texture and integrated wood notes — the house hedonism taken to its peak.

Nose and palate

Pale straw yellow, clean. Fresh, approachable nose, more fruity than spicy, with white grape, green apple, lime peel and a soft vanilla background; Albariño gives it an Atlantic, floral lift that sets it apart from classic Lodeiros White. On the palate it is light, smooth and balanced, with moderate sweetness, green citrus and a short-to-medium finish of vanilla and fine herbs. An easy aperitivo profile rather than a deeply layered tasting vermouth.

How to serve it

Between 4 and 6 °C with pickles, calamari a la romana or chocolate desserts. Ideal in structured cocktails with aged rum, whisky, bourbon or vodka.

Production context

Made in Reus (Tarragona) on Macabeo base with botanical maceration and rest in oak. 18% vol., 75 cl. Third Olave reference alongside Red and White (15%).
