Overall impression

Olave Rojo embodies the Reus vermouth school reborn in 2014 at Celler Sort del Castell (El Morell, Tarragona), within the Oratvin project in a centenary bodega. The intermediate sibling of a three-reference range — Blanco and Reserva Rojo Especial — it bets on higher alcohol than usual (16% vol.) to better balance Macabeo acidity. The house defines it as hedonism in a glass: intense, clean and with its own character.

Nose and palate

Mahogany colour with orange reflections; dense yet transparent, very clean. Intense nose of aromatic herbs and spices with light balsamic touches structuring a distinctive profile. Palate with good alcoholic intensity, velvety glyceric texture; acidity-sweetness balance is the house hallmark. Guía Peñín: 90 points.

How to serve it

Between 4 and 6 °C with pickles, aged cheeses or cockles. Shines in structured cocktails with whisky, bourbon, aged rum or vodka.

Production context

Macabeo white wine macerated two months with between 60 and 80 herbs, grape spirit and rest in oak. Classic Reus maceration without industrial shortcuts. 16% vol., 75 cl. Sibling of Blanco (15%) and Reserva Rojo Especial (18%).
