Jarabe de Palo Vermouth Blanco
Overall impression
Jarabe de Palo Vermouth Blanco completes the Mediterranean fortified-wine line from the Marina Alta alongside the red and mistela. It shares the red's architecture—Alexandrian Muscat from ancient vines, a medieval herb recipe and the Oak Master® stopper—but swaps French oak for American, lending distinctive vanilla, coconut and toasted notes. Crafted in Teulada-Moraira for Macaulay & Cumming Heritage, it is a premium, innovative expression of Alicante vermouth that turns bottle ageing into part of the product itself.
Nose and palate
Bright straw yellow in the glass. The nose is intense and fresh: Muscat grape, wormwood, gentian and elderflower woven with toasted coconut and sweet American oak from the stopper, over an aniseed-balsamic base. On the palate it is generous and very fresh, with persistence of aromatic herbs, anise, Muscat, citrus touches and sweet-toasted American oak; medium finish with a subtle bitterness that keeps the semisweet profile in check.
How to serve it
Serve well chilled (6–8 °C) over ice in a wide glass; orange or lemon peel is optional. It shines with seafood, tinned fish, anchovies, asparagus and Mediterranean appetisers. The Oak Master infusion rewards a leisurely glass where vanilla and toast unfold gradually rather than dominating from the first sip.
Production context
Made in Teulada-Moraira (Alicante) by Bodegas Antonio Llobell for Macaulay & Cumming Heritage under D.O. Alicante. The stopper carries 4 g of American oak that infuses continuously in bottle. Winemaker Víctor Martín collaborated on the project. Fifteen percent alcohol, 75 cl.
