Overall impression

Carcheleto is the artisan vermouth of Bodega Carchelo (Sierra del Carche, Jumilla): thirty-six Mediterranean flowers, roots and plants — rosemary, thyme, lavender, bay leaf — macerated and infused separately. White wines provide the structural base; six months in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels that previously refined red wine add depth and a subtle oak echo. Limited production in one-litre format at 15% vol. For Vermutpedia, Carcheleto represents premium Murcian vermouth with genuine landscape expression: not a solera Jerez style nor an industrial litre, but a patient, barrel-touched artisan project from one of Jumilla's most characterful terroirs.

Nose and palate

Medium-depth mahogany with amber highlights. Intense floral aroma, Mediterranean herbs, spice and citrus. On the palate subtle, elegant and playful; a very pleasant bitter finish with moderate sugar. The separate maceration and infusion of thirty-six botanicals — rosemary, thyme, lavender, laurel among them — builds layered complexity without heaviness. Six months in French oak barrels previously used for red wine adds roundness and a whisper of wood that distinguishes Carcheleto from unoaked cooperative vermouths. Compared with faster-production reds, the three-week philosophy of some Catalan peers or the solera weight of Jerez, Carcheleto bets on Murcian garrigue, barrel refinement and artisan patience in a generous litre bottle.

How to serve it

Serve very cold, alone or with ice and a slice of orange or lime; stuffed olives or marine preserves complete the Mediterranean picture. The one-litre format invites shared aperitivo on terrace or table — ideal with Jumilla tapas, grilled vegetables and local charcuterie. Its moderate sweetness and elegant bitterness also work in a lighter Negroni or Manhattan when a less dense, more herbal Murcian red is wanted. Temperature between 6 and 10 °C in a wide glass or balloon. For tasting, a small pour without ice reveals the floral and barrel nuances that ice can mute.
