Vermouth Cortijo La Fuente
Overall impression
Vermouth Cortijo La Fuente — also marketed as Vermouth Premium — is the sole documented vermouth reference of Bodega Cortijo La Fuente, a family winery in Mollina (Antequera district, Málaga), part of Sabor a Málaga. According to the official sheet, it is made on sweet Pedro Ximénez wines from estate vineyards: the wine ages in centenary American oak butts (toasted notes) and then macerates about three months with a selection of botanicals and spices until sweetness and bitterness balance. 15% vol., 75 cl (~€12 in the official shop). Launched around 2019 (initially small production, ~3,000 litres per Sabor a Málaga) and Gold Medal at Bacchus Awards 2020. For Vermutpedia, it is Mollina's Malaga PX vermouth: sweet, spiced and Andalusian in profile, distinct from Jerez vermouth built on oloroso.
Nose and palate
Pending evaluation.
How to serve it
With ice and an orange slice, alongside a gilda — the winery's proposal. Aperitif and palate opener; also cheeses and sweet desserts according to distributors. Serving temperature around 10–12 °C on third-party sheets.
Production context
Bodega Cortijo La Fuente (Avda. Cortijo La Fuente, 10, Mollina, Málaga): Navarro / Palomo family, third–fourth generation growers on a plateau (~480 m) of calcareous-sandy soils, with Moscatel and Pedro Ximénez at the heart of the catalogue (DO Málaga / Sierras de Málaga on other references). Sole vermouth modality in the verifiable catalogue; no white, rosé or vermouth reserve documented. Official process: sweet PX in American oak butts + ~3 months botanical maceration.
