Vermú de Garage Reserva Especial

By Curro Premium

Granada , España

Overall impression

Vermú de Garage Reserva Especial is the flagship vermouth of Francisco Javier Marín Cejudo «Curro» (Asador Curro, Granada), made since 2016 in the garage beside the restaurant per specialist press. Alexandria Muscat — grape historic to Italian vermouth and successful in Granada — with Jerez-style solera and criadera technique and minimum 12 months in French oak barrels that previously held red wine: «white grape body and red spirit» per Consumidor Global. 92 points Peñín vermouth guide. Bronze medal World Vermouth Awards 2023. For Vermutpedia, it represents Granada's most ambitious vermouth: solera, barrel and gastronomic pedigree from a restaurant-born project.

Nose and palate

Pending evaluation.

How to serve it

Very cold in a wine glass with ice and evolution in glass — sommelier recommendation. Also as aperitivo or light digestivo. Serve between 6 and 8 °C; copa de vino allows nose development as ice melts. Works with ibérico, aged cheese, nuts and Granada restaurant cooking. In cocktails it substitutes standard red vermouth when solera depth and barrel spice are wanted. At room temperature density increases; chill is essential. ~€11 RRP for a gastronomic reference with major guide points. For Vermutpedia, Reserva Especial is drunk very cold in wine glass with ice, as Granada solera vermouth built for contemplative aperitivo and evolved sipping.

Production context

Made in Granada (~20,000 bottles/year). Barrels from Horacio Calvente (south Granada). 15% vol., 75 cl, ~€11 RRP. Sibling: Vermú de Garage Blanco de Graná. Minimum 12 months in French oak that previously held red wine; solera and criadera technique. Bronze World Vermouth Awards 2023; 92 Peñín vermouth guide. Garage production beside Asador Curro since 2016. For Vermutpedia, Reserva Especial synthesises Curro's artisan Granada vermouth: moscatel, solera, barrel reserve, verifiable at bycurropremium.es. Star piece of the Andalusian contemporary vermouth map.
