Turmeon Blanco
Vermutpedia Score: 6.8/10
Overall impression
Turmeon Blanco is the white vermouth of Bodegas Jaime (Morata de Jalón, Zaragoza), a family winery with documented roots since 1846 and the Turmeon range marketed since 2015. According to turmeon.com, it grows from an old family-library recipe: light, fresh and floral, with a brilliant crystalline appearance and golden reflections. The house defines it as white, but not innocent: beneath visual delicacy lies a vermouth with its own personality, made with top-tier Macabeo — as in Turmeon Original — and macerated with botanicals including orange blossom, lemon peel, wormwood and rosemary. Part of the Aragonese range alongside Original, Rosé, Clásico, Zero, Weed and Honey, with the world's first animated label in the Turmeon line. 15% vol., 110 g/l sugar, 750 ml. For Vermutpedia, it represents Aragonese white vermouth from century-old soleras: lighter and more Mediterranean than red Original, but with the same Pipero tradition and barrels over eighty years old.
Nose and palate
The official sheet describes a nose of citrus, orange blossom, wormwood and a subtle blend of Mediterranean herbs. On the international website, Turmeon details fresh, floral notes with citrus and balsamic touches; maceration includes fourteen botanicals such as ginger, vanilla, rose and orange blossom. On the palate it is smooth and balanced, with elegant sweetness — 110 g/l per the Spanish shop — and a lightly bitter finish that invites another sip. The English version adds white-fruit nuances and pastry aromas on the finish, fused with spice and elegant bitterness. Macabeo brings acidity and freshness that offset semisweet sweetness; the portion of wine aged in century-old barrels adds roundness without oxidative density. Compared with Turmeon Original, Blanco is more floral and less indulgent; versus industrial white vermouths, it keeps Jaime identity: solera, Mediterranean botanicals and kinesiographic label. Straw-yellow colour with golden tones; refreshing profile but with vermouth soul.
How to serve it
Turmeon recommends Blanco neat, on ice or with a grapefruit twist — service that enhances the citrus and orange blossom of maceration. The international website suggests ice, soda and lemon peel, or swapping soda for sparkling wine on festive occasions. It also fits white spritz, Martini bianco or summery builds where a floral, less dense vermouth is wanted. Serve very cold, between 6 and 8 °C; the house notes that in Spain sharing a bottle between two people with ice and a citrus slice is habitual in the Turmeon line. Pairs with light aperitivos, salads, seafood and preserves. In creative cocktails, it works as an aromatic base in drinks requiring semisweet white with orange blossom and herb notes. For terrace or afternoons that stretch — as official copy suggests — the 750 ml format invites relaxed consumption. Coherent with the innovative Turmeon range, but in a fresher register than Weed or Honey.
Production context
Bodegas Jaime makes Turmeon Blanco in Morata de Jalón (Zaragoza): 100% Macabeo, maceration with fourteen botanicals — orange blossom, lemon peel, wormwood, rosemary, ginger, vanilla, rose and others from the family recipe; part of the wine in barrels over eighty years old per Pipero tradition. 15% vol.; 110 g/l residual sugar; 750 ml format. Criadera and solera system shared with Original, Rosé, Clásico, Zero, Weed, Honey and 3 L tap format. World's first moving label in the line. The Turmeon range revives a vermouth recipe over a hundred years old, marketed since 2015 by the fifth generation of the Jaime family. For Vermutpedia, Turmeon Blanco synthesises Aragonese solera white vermouth: Macabeo, Mediterranean botanicals, floral freshness and winery tradition documented at turmeon.com/producto/turmeon-blanco/.
