Overall impression
Vermouth Vall de Gorgos Moscatell is the emblematic aperitif of Bodegas Xaló (Marina Alta, Alicante), in production since 1996 as a tribute to the Gorgos valley and the comarca's winemaking tradition. Selective line within the cooperative's general range, made with Moscatel grape and natural herbal essences per the "Categoría Selecta" label. Awarded silver at the Top Wine Awards 2018 and gold at Mostra PROAVA 2018 per the official technical sheet; in 2023 it won gold again in the vermouth category at the 33rd Mostra PROAVA, according to the bodega website.
Nose and palate
Bright, clean amber colour. On the nose, bitter and balsamic aromas with clove and nutmeg nuances. On the palate, the light sweetness from moscatel and a final bitter touch that adds complexity and character. Each sip reflects the cooperative's artisan process and its commitment to preserving local winemaking tradition.
How to serve it
Ideal as an aperitif, best enjoyed cold at 8–10 °C, neat or with ice. An olive, lemon or orange slice enhances the profile according to preference. Works as terrace and bar vermouth in Marina Alta and as a faithful cocktail component, according to the bodega.
Production context
Moscatel variety, production region Alicante. Fermentation in stainless steel with temperature control. 15% vol., 100 cl, case of 6 bottles. Made at Ctra. Xaló–Alcalalí s/n, 03727 Xaló (Alicante). Traditional reference in the Bodegas Xaló vermouth range, alongside gourmet Xaloneret. The cooperative maintains shop hours Monday to Friday and weekends for visits and direct purchase.
