Vermouth Xaloneret
Vermutpedia Score: 8.2/10
Overall impression
Vermouth Xaloneret is the gourmet reference of Bodegas Xaló (Cooperativa Valenciana Virgen Pobre de Xaló, Marina Alta, Alicante): the name for those who live in and are from Jalón, according to the official bodega sheet. The most refined expression of the cooperative's vermouth, sibling to classic Vall de Gorgos but oriented towards a subtler, more elegant profile. Made with Moscatel grapes by a traditional method, macerated with local herbs and botanicals. Silver medal at the Premios Mezquita de Córdoba per the official technical sheet; also recognised with gold at Premios CINVE 2025 and Mostra PROAVA 2025, according to the bodega and specialist press.
Nose and palate
Light, elegant mahogany colour. On the nose subtle notes of almond blossom and orange blossom, honey, cinnamon and intense orange peel emerge. On the palate it is generous, with a sensation of fruit in syrup, touches of vanilla and cinnamon, and a light bitter almond finish that fades elegantly. Round, balanced profile, more delicate than Vall de Gorgos.
How to serve it
Serve between 8 and 10 °C, neat or on ice. The bodega recommends accompanying it with olive or lemon or orange slice; also works as a base for classic cocktails. Fits the Mediterranean aperitif ritual with tapas, pickles or local cheeses.
Production context
Moscatel variety, production region Alicante. Fermentation in stainless steel with temperature control. 15% vol., 75 cl, case of 6 bottles. Made at Ctra. Xaló–Alcalalí s/n, 03727 Xaló (Alicante). Bodegas Xaló markets two red vermouths: Vall de Gorgos (traditional, since 1996) and Xaloneret (gourmet). Cooperative founded in the 1960s, a Moscatel reference in Marina Alta — "La cuna del Moscatell".
