Overall impression

Marnuthem Blanc 2024 is the small-production white vermouth of Marc Cuenca and Núria Sánchez in Bell-lloc d'Urgell (Pla d'Urgell, Lleida), under the motto «the vermouth that respects the wine». According to marnuthem.com, the project was born in 2018 with ambition to reinvent vermouth from the heart of Lleida: marriage of wine and botanicals, acidity and sweetness, respect for the elements. 100% Macabeo base from D.O. Costers del Segre — Sanui winery of Lleida — with natural botanicals macerated in alcohol for two or three months; wine and sugar rest another two months before final blending. 15% vol., 75 cl. The line has accumulated World Vermouth Awards as world's best semiseco vermouth (2023, 2024, 2025). For Vermutpedia, Blanc 2024 represents artisan vintage Catalan vermouth with premium vocation against industrial references.

Nose and palate

Pale straw colour. Fine nose with Mediterranean herbs and citrus; aniseed and citrus flavour according to official process descriptions. On the palate, integrated: wine, botanical macerate and sugar form a round whole, with soft bitterness and clean finish. Macabeo from Costers del Segre brings freshness and continental minerality; prolonged maceration adds herbaceous layers without aggression. Moderate semisweet profile — «for those who like semi-dry» — with balance that explains the international awards. Compared with commercial sweet white vermouths, Marnuthem is more wine-driven and less cloying; against the house Rosé, it is more herbal and less fruity. Clean texture, no barrel ageing, where base wine quality and post-blend rest mark the difference.

How to serve it

Ideal very cold, with ice and lemon twist; also in spritz with tonic or soda, where Macabeo acidity and aniseed botanicals dialogue with bubbles. Pairs with seafood, vinaigrette salads and light Mediterranean cuisine. Marnuthem bets on surprise and seduction: serve in a balloon glass to appreciate aromatic evolution. Works in white cocktail work when wine-driven vermouth with personality is sought — reinterpreted dry Martini, summer spritz — without reaching the extreme dryness of a Jerez dry. Requires no complex garnishes; lemon or green olive suffice. Recommended temperature 6–8 °C to preserve citrus and herbs.
