Overall impression

La Copa Vermouth Blanco is the Jerez white vermouth of González Byass, recovered from the 1896 historic archive as part of the four-reference La Copa range: Red, White, Extra Dry and Reserva. According to the winery it starts from selected finos macerated with classic botanicals—wormwood, woodruff, clove, orange, cinnamon and angelica—in the Jerez solera system. Sweeter and rounder than the Extra Dry in the same range, the White aims at versatile aperitif and modern cocktail work with an Andalusian base. Clean, elegant, intense colour; fifteen percent alcohol, 75 cl. The La Copa brand evokes Jerez vermouth tradition and the label replicates the historic archive. For Vermutpedia it represents the semisweet Jerez white from a great house: solera fino, classic botanicals and balance between concentrated citrus, wormwood and residual sweetness. Sibling to Red (oloroso and PX), Extra Dry (seventeen percent, red fruits) and aged Reserva, the White is the accessible, round expression of the historic González Byass range.

Nose and palate

The sheet describes a clean, elegant, intense vermouth. On the nose, concentrated citrus, wormwood and woodruff stand out, with typical Jerez fino salinity underneath. Spices—cinnamon and nutmeg—appear in layers balancing herbal bitterness with residual sweetness. On the palate it is semisweet, round and persistent; wormwood and woodruff bring elegant bitterness without aggression, while cinnamon and nutmeg add warm spice. The selected solera fino base gives Jerez structure and a long finish. Compared with La Copa Extra Dry, the White is sweeter and less austere; against Italian white vermouths it bets on classic Andalusian botanicals and fino character. Silky texture, fifteen percent alcohol that suits neat or mixed service. Sweet-bitter harmony is balanced: sweetness on entry, wormwood bitterness in the aftertaste, citrus refreshing the close.

How to serve it

González Byass recommends serving La Copa Blanco cold, neat, on ice or with soda—formats covering classic aperitif, refresher and cocktail base. Versatile for modern mixology: Martini, Bamboo, vermouth and tonic or preparations needing semisweet white with Jerez soul. Temperature between 6 and 8 °C; in balloon glass, wide tumbler or cocktail coupe as occasion demands. With soda, a light aperitif; neat on ice, more expressive. Orange slice or lemon peel enhances maceration citrus. Pair with olives, nuts, fried fish and Andalusian tapas. On the bar it replaces commercial whites when fino and classic botanicals are wanted. For tasting, white wine glass without ice; for terrace, ice and soda.
