Vermouth La Rana Escondida

La Rana Escondida

Salamanca , España

Overall impression

Vermouth La Rana Escondida is a Salamanca red vermouth made from 100% late-harvest Monastrell: fermentation is stopped at 15% to preserve the grape's natural sugars without relying on added sweeteners. After filtering, the vermouth macerates for one month with aromatic plants, roots and flowers in 700-litre French oak barrels. 15.5% vol., 75 cl. The brand — a nod to the famous frog on the University of Salamanca façade — sells its own releases and personalised collaborations with local bars and shops (Bar Chinitas, La Despensa del Convento in Alba de Tormes). For Vermutpedia, it documents Castile and León artisan vermouth with a red base and a botanical-balsamic profile.
