El Bandarra Rosé
Overall impression
El Bandarra Rosé is the lightest vermouth in the Red-White-Rosé triad of Vimes 15 S.L. (Penedès), according to elbandarra.com. Nostalgic homage to 1950s Barcelona vermouth — «Liberté, Egalité, Bandarra Rosé!» — it bets on a fresh, tasty profile with 35% less sugar than the house red. Made with Xarel·lo and Macabeo wines, part of a popular range designed to share with joy: terrace, bustle and good vibes. 15% vol., 100 cl. For Vermutpedia, it represents accessible Catalan rosé vermouth: semidry, fruity and very oriented to easy drinking with ice.
Nose and palate
The house describes red fruit, vanilla and lollipop notes over a lighter botanical background than Bandarra Rojo — less sweet, moderate bitterness. Fruity, spiced nose with sweet but contained hints. Very refreshing palate, direct drink, balance between semidry sweetness and herbal bitterness without cloying. Light texture, fresh passage, short-medium finish inviting repetition. Compared with the Blanco — Garnacha Blanca, pronounced vanilla — and the Red — more than 50 herbs, clove and cinnamon — the Rosé occupies the most carefree, summery register of the range. Coherent with bandarra discourse of popular, unpretentious vermouth.
How to serve it
El Bandarra recommends plenty of ice and an orange slice — «a scandal, I tell you» — on terrace or carefree aperitif. Serve very cold in a wide glass or tall tumbler; orange enhances red fruit and vanilla of the profile. Also in rosé spritz with soda or tonic when light vermouth is sought. Pairs with salty appetisers, crisps and informal tapas. Not complex dessert vermouth: invites social drinking and repetition. 1 L format ideal for groups. For Vermutpedia, El Bandarra Rosé is documented Penedès aperitif at elbandarra.com.
