Overall impression

El Bandarra Blanco is the sweetest version of Vimes 15 S.L.'s bandarrismo, a brand born in the Penedès as homage to the golden age of Barcelona vermouth in the 1950s. According to elbandarra.com, it is sweet, refreshing and with an unmistakable touch of vanilla; made with Garnacha Blanca and Xarel·lo wines from own vineyards at Cellers Martí Serdà — centenary Casa Berger bodega, founded in 1878. Macerated with more than forty aromatic herbs — vanilla, wormwood, chamomile, mint, gentian, clove; sweetened with must nectar and two months rest in tank. 15% vol., 1 L and 5 L (tap) formats. For Vermutpedia, it represents modern Penedès white vermouth: sweeter and more citrus than the Red, distinct from the Rosé (35% less sugar) and Al Fresco (grapefruit aperitif). The house defines it as «finding a banknote in your jacket: unexpected and wonderful».

Nose and palate

The house sheet describes a refreshing, citrus vermouth with marked vanilla. On the nose emerge maceration herbs: vanilla, wormwood, chamomile, mint and gentian, with Garnacha Blanca floral hints and Xarel·lo freshness. Must nectar adds gentle sweetness and roundness without the flat profile of industrial sugar. Sweet, enveloping entry on the palate, easy drink and soft herbal finish; vanilla dominates the aftertaste with elegance. Two months rest in tank adds integration between base wine and botanics. Compared with El Bandarra Rojo — more herbal, with caramel and oak solera — the Blanco bets on citrus sweetness and vanilla. The 15% vol. supports structure without heaviness. In the glass, must nectar unctuousness and citrus freshness stand out; vanilla and herb aftertaste closes softly. A semisweet white designed for terrace, ice and lemon: entry sweetness, Mediterranean freshness and contained herbal finish.

How to serve it

El Bandarra recommends serving with plenty of ice and a lemon slice — ideal format for terrace and informal aperitif in bandarra key. Works very cold in a wide tumbler or balloon glass; lemon reinforces citrus botanics and balances vanilla sweetness. The one-litre format invites sharing at the table; the 5 L with tap suits bars and celebrations. In mixology it can replace standard white vermouth in spritz or local variants with cava when a sweeter, Mediterranean profile is sought. Pairs with Russian salad, croquettes, fresh cheeses and light tapas. Temperature between 6 and 8 °C; avoid excess ice that would dilute the vanilla. Also in tonic combinations for a long aperitif. Not a silent tasting vermouth: designed for social aperitif, bandarrismo and vermouth hour the Catalan way.

Production context

El Bandarra Blanco is made in Sant Miquel d'Olèrdola (Penedès) under Vimes 15 S.L., with Garnacha Blanca and Xarel·lo grapes from own vineyards at Cellers Martí Serdà, centenary Casa Berger (1878). Maceration with more than forty herbs — vanilla, wormwood, chamomile, mint, gentian, clove; sweetened with must nectar; two months rest in tank. 15% vol.; 1 L and 5 L (tap) formats. Range includes Red (Xarel·lo and Macabeo, oak solera), Rosé (35% less sugar) and Al Fresco (grapefruit aperitif, 14.5% vol.). Brand relaunched in 2014 with nostalgic aesthetics. For Vermutpedia, it synthesises contemporary Penedès white vermouth: local grape, vanilla, must nectar and sweet profile for aperitif. Sheet verifiable at elbandarra.com.
