Overall impression

Antich Reserva revives the Barcelona vermouth recipe the house founded in 1850, when Antich proclaimed itself «the city's vermouth». Today part of Grupo Vallformosa, it keeps the classic aperitivo spirit with an extra step: one year in American oak barrels that adds oxidative evolution and toasted nuances. Certified organic vermouth made in the Penedès with DO Macabeo and organic botanicals.

Nose and palate

Intense mahogany with amber highlights. An enveloping nose: vanilla, coconut, raisins, figs and dried fruit integrated with the herb and spice blend of the original recipe. On the palate, silky and velvety, with initial sweetness well contrasted by wormwood bitterness and a toasted, slightly bitter, elegant finish that reveals wood ageing. Notes of cocoa, clove and ripe fruit appear on the aftertaste.

How to serve it

Very cold, neat, with an orange slice and olive — the classic Barcelona service. Also in Negronis or Americanos when you want a vermouth with more body and oxidative personality than Antich Original.

Production context

DO Penedès Macabeo base wine first undergoes oxidative barrel ageing. It is then infused with 37 organic botanicals — vanilla, gentian, thyme, wormwood, bitter orange, cinnamon and Cretan dittany, among others — and colour comes from caramelised organic cane sugar. Final ageing of 12 months in American oak. 15% vol., 70 cl. Completes the trio alongside the red Original and the Original Blanc (no caramel).
