Valencia
Overall impression
Vermut Bio Las Manos is the organic red vermouth of local commitment born from collaboration between Bodegas Urbanas (Fernández Pons, Valencia), social organisation La Dinamo and Oxfam Intermón. Per tienda.oxfamintermon.org and the Alcampo sheet, it is made in Valencia with organic white wine, house-produced alcohol, natural extracts of herbs, fruit and spices, and fair-trade cane sugar from Cooperativa Manduvirá (Paraguay). 14.8% vol., 75 cl, EU organic certification. Alcampo stocks it in its fair-trade range — alongside Tierra Madre — placing it on the supermarket shelf without being an exclusive private label of the chain. It shares producer DNA with the same urban winery’s Ciento Volando range. For Vermutpedia, Las Manos represents accessible Spanish organic–solidarity vermouth in mass retail.
Nose and palate
Pending in-house tasting. Oxfam describes dark reddish colour; nose of orange and cinnamon; palate combining the sweetness of fair-trade cane sugar with the acidity of the wine base. SETEM stresses the balance between sweetness, cinnamon and organic wine. Semisweet Mediterranean profile, more social-narrative than barrel-aged.
How to serve it
Cold, as an aperitif, with ice and orange slice to lift citrus and cinnamon. Fits conscious vermouth hours — Oxfam shops, Veritas, Alcampo — and tables where organic and fair-trade seals are part of the experience. Pairs with pickles, mild cheeses and simple snacks. Keep sealed in a cool place after opening.
