Carmeleta Bianco
Vermutpedia Score: 7.4/10
Overall impression
Carmeleta Bianco is «Savia de naranjo» (orange tree sap): classic-cut Valencian white vermouth made by Spirit & Cocktail S.L. A blend of Muscat, Malvasía, Planta Nova and Macabeo with orange tree root, leaves, blossom and ginger, built on wormwood, artemisia, fennel, Cretan dittany, thyme and chamomile. 15% vol., 75 cl. For Vermutpedia, it represents the luminous side of the Carmeleta range centred on the Valencian orange tree — herbal, citrus and Mediterranean, distinct from the brand's flagship Orange and the sensual Rosseta.
Nose and palate
Crystal-clear colour with steely reflections. Aromatic liquorice, Mediterranean scrubland and balsamic nuances; fresh and ample entry, acid-sweet-bitter balance with a slightly bitter, spicy and spiced finish. Orange tree root, leaves, blossom and ginger integrate with wormwood, artemisia, fennel, Cretan dittany, thyme and chamomile in a profile that reads Valencian before generic. Compared with industrial Spanish whites, Carmeleta Bianco bets on territorial botany and the orange tree as identity axis rather than anonymous herbal blends.
How to serve it
Serve very cold with ice and citrus; base for white cocktails or Mediterranean aperitivo in a wide glass. A lemon or orange twist enhances the orange tree botanicals. Pairs with Valencian tapas, olives, almonds and light seafood. Also works in spritz with soda when a semisweet herbal white with orange blossom character is wanted. Temperature between 6 and 10 °C.
Production context
