Vermut 19Quince
Overall impression
Vermut 19Quince is the vermouth bet of Bodega Bogarve 1915, a centenary winery in Madridejos (Toledo) founded in 1915 by Cipriano García de la Cruz and now in its fourth family generation. The name refers to the house's founding year and condenses a La Mancha tradition of wines, mistelas and aperitivos handed down through proprietary formulas. Unlike industrial vermouths, 19Quince is made with estate wine —100% Airén from Toledo vineyards— and a selection of botanical herbs that add complexity without losing regional character. The winery works organic agriculture on some 120 hectares of its own and agreements with local suppliers, ensuring clean, expressive grapes in a continental La Mancha climate. Base alcohol comes from Algarve 1914, a family distillery created in 1996 and one of the oldest alcohol producers in Castilla-La Mancha, allowing full-cycle control from grape to final aperitivo. The result is a balanced, aromatic vermouth with La Mancha personality that recovers the tradition of Spanish wine aperitivo with an artisan, honest stamp.

How to serve it
The house recommends serving between 6 and 8 °C, a temperature at which the bitter-sweet balance shows more clearly and the balsamic nose does not dull. It works as the aperitivo par excellence: with green olives, pickles, anchovies in vinegar, patatas bravas or any classic Spanish tapa that calls for a salty contrast. It also fits simple mixed drinks —soda, bar bitter or light tonic— when you want a recognisable La Mancha profile without dominating the glass. In more elaborate cocktails it can replace generic red vermouths in an Americano or a Negroni with a more rustic, vinous tone. The winery sells 19Quince in 75 cl bottles and 3, 5 and 10 litre bag-in-box formats in its online shop, ideal for hospitality or frequent home consumption without losing the same artisan recipe. Also available through specialist distributors such as La Barrica Vinos for those who prefer to buy outside the official Bogarve shop.
Production context
The history of Bogarve 1915 intertwines with that of Algarve 1914: in 1914 Cipriano acquired the distillery and the following year added the winery; since then both companies have remained in family hands. In 1996 the first trellised vineyards were planted and the two companies were formalised, combining the García de la Cruz Vega surname with each founding year. That in-house distillery allows mistelas and vermouths to be headed with wine-origin alcohols of maximum traceability. 19Quince is made under criteria handed down by ancestors —the house's «best-kept secret»— with organic Airén wine, selected botanicals and artisan processes that distinguish this aperitivo from industrial formulations. Madridejos, 120 kilometres south of Madrid, contributes a La Mancha terroir of secular winemaking tradition. 75 cl bottle, 15% vol.
