Overall impression

Vermouth Artesano Selección Especial is the bottled reference of Bodegas Cruz Conde (Montilla, Córdoba, since 1902): Spanish vermouth built on white wine with complex herb maceration where gentian stands out. Distinct from the tap vermouth based on oloroso in 3 and 5-litre BIB formats. For Vermutpedia, it is the embotellado face of Montillano artisan vermouth: intense, velvety and gentian-structured, aimed at those who want Cruz Conde in bottle rather than at the bar.

Nose and palate

Very intense and aromatic on the nose, evocative of wine and spices. On the palate it is soft and velvety, with herb and spice notes and balsamic sensations. Very well balanced in acidity and bitterness, with a very long finish — the house's signature profile of roundness and persistence without aggression.

How to serve it

Cold with ice and orange; pairs with olives, pickles, cheeses and ibérico ham in the classic Andalusian aperitivo line.

Production context

15% vol., 700 ml bottle. DO Montilla-Moriles. Bodegas y Destilerías del Sur, S.A., Ronda de Canillo 4, Montilla. The range also includes Vermouth Rojo Reserva 1902 (Pedro Ximénez, oloroso in soleras) and artisan tap vermouth.
