El Vermúdez
Overall impression
El Vermúdez is the ready-to-drink aperitivo La Casera launched in 2016: quality vermouth, La Casera soda water and a touch of orange, formulated with mixologist Diego Cabrera. It is not a classic 15% vol. vermouth but a low-ABV blend (4.9% vol., like a beer) meant to soften traditional vermouth bitterness and complexity for bar and supermarket aperitivo. Retro green 18 cl mini bottle, vintage label inspired by the brand crest; indicative price about €0.90–0.95. Brand owned by Suntory Beverage & Food Spain (Suntory group), historic Spanish soda founded in Madrid in 1949. Not to be confused with Vermúdez restaurant in Valencia or namesake vermuterías: here the name designates La Casera's RTD. For Vermutpedia, it documents the border between vermouth and light alcoholic soft drink in Spain's aperitivo boom.

How to serve it
House perfect serve: low tumbler packed with ice, olive on a stick and an orange slice. Serve very cold; carbonation and orange approach a pre-mixed vermouth-and-soda. Pairs with pickles, conservas, crisps, olives, almonds and spicy snacks. A light alternative to beer or tinto de verano at aperitivo; it does not replace artisan sipping vermouth for serious tasting. The 18 cl format invites another round without alcohol overload.
Production context
Launched 2016 by La Casera (Suntory Beverage & Food Spain). Documented formula: soda (~67%), white wine, vermouth (~9.8%), caramelised sugar, anthocyanin colouring (E-163), natural citrus aroma and quinine aroma per published tasting sheet; 4.9% vol., 18 cl. Diego Cabrera collaborated on the formulation. Positioned alongside Tinto de Verano as a low-ABV mixed drink; hospitality and retail channels (Carrefour, El Corte Inglés, Hipercor, etc.). Distinct from pure vermouth: bottled vermouth + soda. For Vermutpedia, El Vermúdez synthesises La Casera's aperitivo-soft drink: 4.9% vol., 18 cl mini bottle and ice–orange–olive ritual verifiable in launch communications.
