Overall impression

Txurrut («small sip» in Basque) was the first native vermouth brand in Enkarterri when Antonio Vence launched it in 2014 on Hondarribi Zuri from Sopuerta vineyards. A Basque pioneer that broke the Italian monopoly on shelf: local grape, garden herbs and fruit from a 3,000 m² plot in Muskiz (orange and lemon trees). The highest rated among 90 national vermouths according to Ester Bachs Romaguera's Guía del Vermut.

Nose and palate

Dark amber. Fennel and juniper mark the characteristic bitterness over a base of around twenty aromatic herbs; vanilla, walnut, rose petals and caramel add roundness. Soft, fresh, with balanced sweet finish and Atlantic personality without the intensity of Vintage.

How to serve it

Very cold with ice and citrus; base for Basque-Atlantic mixed drinks or aperitif before pintxos.

Production context

Made under the supervision of Imanol Sarasola; bottled at Destilerías Manuel Acha (Amurrio, since 1831). Design by Nuria Ortega with floral motifs and robin redbreast. 15% vol., 75 cl. Range: Txurrut, Vintage, Zuria, Luxuzko and X Aniversario.
