Overall impression

Txurrut Vintage was the second reference in the range when Antonio Vence launched it in 2014, alongside classic Txurrut and Vintage Zuria (white). Made in Sopuerta (Enkarterri) with local Hondarribi Zuri, it represents the step up in intensity within the family: more body, more botanicals and greater personality than entry-level Txurrut. Imanol Sarasola supervises production and Nuria Ortega designed the visual line that distinguishes the range on shelf.

Nose and palate

Dark amber. Aromatic herbs and balsamics on the nose — fennel and juniper mark the Basque profile — with spice in the background. On the palate it is more assertive than original Txurrut: integrated herbaceous bitterness, balanced sweetness and persistent finish. The prolonged maceration with more than 20 botanicals shows in layers that open in the glass.

How to serve it

With ice and citrus in a balloon glass; also in a Negroni where you want to replace an Italian red with something bearing an Atlantic stamp. Less ostentatious than Luxuzko, but more accessible for everyday drinking.

Production context

Hondarribi Zuri base from Sopuerta vineyards; maceration with around 20 botanicals (fennel, juniper, vanilla, walnut, rose petals, among others). Around 60 days' maceration and subsequent rest before bottling, according to the Vintage range protocol. 15% vol., 75 cl. The family also includes Txurrut, Vintage Zuria, Luxuzko and X Aniversario; chestnuts in vermouth and vermouth cream complete the Vegame S.L. catalogue.
