Vermut Montseta Blanco

Valls , España

Overall impression

Vermut Montseta Blanco shares the KM0 herbs, flowers and roots base of the red, but adds an exclusive flower and root that deliver a very characteristic, inimitable floral profile according to GuiaVermut. Made in Valls (Tarragona) by the Bellod family with 100% Macabeo from own vineyards and local growers. Third-generation vermouth makers with sustainable production and minimal environmental footprint according to montseta.com. For Vermutpedia, Montseta Blanco represents Catalan artisan white vermouth with Valls identity: floral exclusivity, Macabeo KM0 and three months in oak before final blending — the luminous pole of the Montseta range alongside Rojo, Rosado and Reserva.

Nose and palate

Fine, soft and generous («goloso») according to the house. The floral touch stands out over the wormwood, cinnamon and vanilla base that sweetens herbal potency. On the palate, balance between acidity, bitterness and sweetness, very pleasant and light. Same philosophy of three months' rest in oak barrel as the red before final assembly. On the nose, the exclusive flower and root bring a perfume distinct from standard white vermouths — Mediterranean, not confectionery. Macabeo adds clean fruit; cinnamon and vanilla round wormwood without masking it. Compared with Montseta Rojo, the Blanco is lighter and more floral; against industrial blancos, it offers provenance, barrel rest and Bellod craftsmanship. Texture invites very cold aperitif and white-cocktail work.

How to serve it

Cold, neat or with ice; also in white cocktails. Fits the Catalan Mediterranean aperitif. Serve between 6 and 8 °C in a balloon or wide glass; a lemon twist enhances the floral-herbal profile. Works in Bianco Martini, white Negroni or lengthened with premium tonic when a semisweet floral vermouth is wanted. Pairs with goat cheese, olives, grilled vegetables and light tapas. The 75 cl format suits home aperitif and vermutería service. For Vermutpedia, Montseta Blanco is drunk cold with ice or in white cocktails — floral, KM0, Valls artisan vermouth documented at montseta.com and guiavermut.com.
