Overall impression

Vermut Humboldt takes the name of the German naturalist who praised Tenerife as «the most varied, attractive and harmonious picture» he saw on his travels. Bodegas Insulares — a cooperative of 803 Tacoronte-Acentejo growers — makes it under the same brand as its Humboldt sweet wines, bottling the uniqueness of the island's northern comarca in an Atlantic vermouth with local botanicals.

Nose and palate

Mahogany red, clean and bright. Very aromatic nose: predominant citrus, herbs and spices — cinnamon, clove and cardamom — according to the official note. On the palate the bitterness of artemisia gives way to sweet notes of chocolate and coffee; the sweet-bitter balance closes with a long finish and a subtle wood passage.

How to serve it

Between 6 and 9 °C, neat with ice or in classic cocktails; also with soda and orange peel for a light aperitif. Ideal as a gastronomic wine-tourism aperitif at the Tacoronte comarcal bodega.

Production context

Base of Humboldt Tinto 2001 macerated with 15 selected botanicals from the Canarian mountains. 18% vol., 75 cl. Bodegas Insulares integrates growers from Tacoronte-Acentejo and Icod de los Vinos since 1992; the vermouth is part of its wine-tourism bet alongside the brand's sweet wines.
