Wachisnais Tintorro
After The Misa Wachisnais (MN Vinos)
Vermutpedia Score: 7.4/10
Overall impression
Wachisnais Tintorro is the semidry red vermouth of the Wachisnais range, marketed on the official website as «Vermut Wachisnais Rojo». Project of Paco, Noe and Juan Pablo in Pedrosa de Duero (Burgos), within D.O. Ribera del Duero, made at artisan winery MN Vinos Hnos. Rodero Calderari. The brand represents «vermouth hour on Sunday afternoons after mass»: friendship, conversation and joy. Base of Tempranillo and Verdejo with infusion of 37 botanicals in five profiles (bitter, sweet, citrus, herbaceous, spicy). Tintorro is the entry red reference — €14 RRP, 75 cl, 15% vol. per official sheet — preceding barrel-aged Celestial. Burgos colloquial name the house associates with what is desirable and tasty.
Nose and palate
Semidry vermouth with dark amber colour. Intense nose, spiced and citrus profile with the characteristic caramel touch distinguishing the red from the range's brilliant yellow white. Maceration of 37 botanicals adds layers across five house-defined profiles: structured bitterness, integrated sweetness, citrus freshness, herbaceous notes and subtle spice. Tasty on the palate, great amplitude, caramel touches, freshness from citrus notes and perfect balance of bitterness and smoothness. Enveloping texture, broad passage, finish combining spice and caramel without cloying.
How to serve it
The house recommends drinking it well chilled, with a single ice cube, accompanied by orange peel — identical service to the white and Celestial. Ideal as Sunday aperitif in Pedrosa de Duero or any terrace wanting a spiced Ribera red. Also in classic mixed drinks admitting semidry vermouth with caramel character. Refrigerate once opened if not consumed immediately.
Production context
Made by After The Misa Wachisnais S.L. at MN Vinos, Pedrosa de Duero (D.O. Ribera del Duero). Infusion of 37 botanicals; Tempranillo and Verdejo base per elaboration page. 15% vol., 75 cl, €14 RRP on official website. No barrel ageing (unlike Celestial, nine months in oak and blend with Rita Hetvin liqueur aged more than six years). Tintorro — Rojo in official catalogue — synthesises artisan Ribera red vermouth Wachisnais: dark amber, caramel-citrus, semidry.
