Egarenca Vermut Rojo
Overall impression
Egarenca Vermut Rojo is Terrassa's vermouth made by Celler Díaz (Sitges), inspired by a love story with the city. Born as «Egara» and rebaptised Egarenca after brand pressure from Félix Solís Avantis (Conde de Egara), maintaining the recipe according to Canal Terrassa. Label featuring Masia Freixa and Modernism, designed by Judith con H; Vinari Award for best vermouth label (2022). For Vermutpedia, Egarenca is vermouth as urban identity: Terrassa in a bottle, with a label as celebrated as the liquid inside.
Nose and palate
Made with Garraf Macabeo and 24 botanics according to Celler Díaz. Coffee, liquorice and nutmeg notes; balsamic, refreshing profile with notable bitterness. Sweetness of plums, raisins and candied fruit; evolves from less to more with an explosive finish in the mouth. Turisme Terrassa describes a herbal aroma with artemisia, gentian, nutmeg, cinnamon and bitter orange citrus (12 botanics in the local tourist sheet). A vermouth that builds intensity across the sip — from herbal opening to candied-fruit sweetness and a long, emphatic close.
How to serve it
Aperitif glass with gastronomic tapas; marketed in dozens of Terrassa establishments according to local press. The city's vermouth ritual — bar, ice and local tapas — is the natural frame for Egarenca, where the evolving palate and explosive finish reward unhurried aperitif service.
Production context
Made by Celler Díaz for Terrassa identity; Garraf Macabeo base + 24 botanics. 15% vol., 75 cl (~€9.85 RRP Celler Díaz). Closes the celler's artisan range alongside Cala Morisca and Maladona. Vinari Award best label 2022. For Vermutpedia, Egarenca synthesises Catalan urban vermouth: Terrassa terroir, Modernist aesthetics and a recipe preserved through a naming dispute documented in local press.
