ASTOBIZA VERMOUTH Extra Premium
Overall impression
ASTOBIZA VERMOUTH Extra Premium is the world's first vermouth made from white wine of hand-harvested Hondarrabi Zuri at Finca Astobiza (Okondo, Álava). Recipe, development and production belong to Astobiza; the product is fortified with cereal alcohol infused with juniper, sweetness adjusted with grape must and staged botanical maceration. Awarded Best Semisweet Vermouth in the World at World Vermouth Awards 2021 and Double Gold at San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021.
Nose and palate
Editorial tasting pending. The Best Vermouth in the World 2021 award in the Semi Sweet category (World Vermouth Awards) supports a semisweet profile on Hondarrabi Zuri base, with staged botanical maceration and a juniper note in fortification.
How to serve it
At 8 °C «as is» in a premium glass; the included mini Red Mixer allows custom tinting (rosé with a few drops on ice, or intense red to taste). Ideal with Basque pairings, cocktails and family table moments.
Production context
Concept born from Damajuana no. 3 after hundreds of trials by the Astobiza team. 15.5% vol., 75 cl plus mini bottle of red concentrate made from a fraction of the white batch. Bottling takes place at Licores Víctor Barañano facilities; intellectual property and vermouth production belong to Bodega Astobiza. Sole commercial vermouth reference from the winery, bridging txakoli tradition and Basque vermouth innovation.
