Overall impression

Yzaguirre Blanco Reserva takes the house white of the Tarragona bodega — founded in Reus in 1884 — into barrel-aged territory. More textured and complex than Clásico Blanco, it combines an excellent base wine with botanical extract from the Italian Alpine method and twelve months in oak that add consistency and gastronomic character. The Yzaguirre option for those seeking a semisweet white with depth, far from the light aperitif of the unaged range.

Nose and palate

Very aromatic according to the Reserva line profile. Notes of wood, herbs and balsamic spices emerge — vanilla, cinnamon and herbaceous nuances from the blend of around eighty botanicals — with greater roundness than the classic. On the palate it is velvety and balanced: semisweet integrates with the acidity of the base wine and the oak imprint; the finish is persistent and enveloping, with texture that invites long afternoon or dinner pours.

How to serve it

With ice, lemon and mint in a long drink; also as a very cold gastronomic aperitif, neat or with orange slice. Works in cooking for sauces and stews where a white with body adds spice without the colour of Rojo Reserva.

Production context

Made in El Morell with twelve months' ageing in oak barrels and 18% vol., against 15% for the classic. Reserva passes through wood; classics rest in stainless steel. 1-litre bottle. Shares the portfolio with Rojo Reserva, Dry Reserva, Herbal Vintage and Selección 1884.
