Overall impression

Yzaguirre Rojo Reserva is the vermouth with which the Tarragona bodega — founded in Reus in 1884 — pioneered the launch of a Reserva in Spain. In 2024 the AEPEV chose it as the country's best vermouth in its category. More structured than Clásico Rojo, it combines an excellent base wine with botanical extract from the Italian Alpine method perfected in El Morell.

Nose and palate

Mahogany red colour, very aromatic and velvety according to the bodega. Notes of wood, herbs and spices emerge with hints of ripe fruit; the nose anticipates a balanced, flavourful palate in harmony with the acidity of the base wine. Twelve months in oak barrels confer consistency and character that the classic without ageing cannot reach: more enveloping texture, persistent finish and greater depth in cooking and aperitif.

How to serve it

The bodega suggests daily aperitif with ice, orange slice, orange peel in the glass and a mint leaf; also as a long drink with drops of Campari. Ideal for flavouring meat or game stews, seafood paella and baking.

Production context

Made in El Morell (Tarragona) with a secret formula of around eighty herbs and spices. The classics rest weeks in steel; the Reserva spends twelve months in oak before bottling. 18% vol., 1 litre bottle. Yzaguirre was the first Spanish bodega to commercialise a Reserva vermouth; today it shares the portfolio with Herbal Vintage, Selección 1884 and the classic range.
