Atxa Vermouth Reserva Familia

Destilerías Acha

Amurrio , España

Overall impression

Atxa Vermouth Reserva Familia is the pinnacle of the vermouth line at Destilerías Acha, an Amurrio distillery with roots since 1831. It starts from Airén white wine from local bodegas and more than 30 botanicals — wormwood, gentian, cardamom, clove, hibiscus, chamomile, cinnamon, fennel — but distinguishes itself from young red by a minimum six months' rest in French oak barrels that adds intensity and complexity. Family recipe recovered by Gabriel Acha when revitalising the house.
