Overall impression

La Vizcaína Vermut de Solera is born in Las Caldas (Oviedo) from chef Chus García Prieto, within the artisan line of preserves, sauces and vermouths from his restaurant. Made from Tempranillo and Garnacha with no added sugars, it is the solera red reference alongside the Verdejo white and the orange-peel white.

Nose and palate

Woody taste with liquorice traces, natural sweetness and a juniper touch. Intense flavour balancing sweetness from the wine and herbal bitterness—traditional Asturian profile for menu aperitif and online shop.

How to serve it

Cold over ice; ideal with house preserves, fabada or La Vizcaína aperitif pack. Also in Trío de vermuts with the other two modalities.

Production context

750 ml, fifteen percent alcohol, contains sulphites. Made in Las Caldas without added sugars. Third piece of an artisan vermouth range sold in the restaurant shop; the house is a recurrent finalist in «La Mejor Fabada del Mundo».
