Overall impression

Zarro Naranja —marketed as Vermut con Naranja— is Bodegas Sanviver's citrus bet within the Zarro universe: the essence of Madrid tap vermouth, made in Fuenlabrada since 1968, renewed with natural orange extracts according to the official shop. The house describes a combination that unites the tradition of the best castizo vermouth with the freshness and character of citrus, seeking balance between vermouth bitterness and the natural sweetness of orange. 75 cl bottle, 15% vol., suitable for vegetarian and vegan consumption according to distribution. For Vermutpedia, it occupies the niche of bottled Madrid orange vermouth: sibling of litre Red and Reserva or Especial Taberna lines, but with its own identity oriented to refreshing aperitivo.

How to serve it

Serve very cold, with ice and an orange slice —the natural format for a vermouth that already carries citrus in the formula—. Fits the Madrid aperitivo ritual with olives, pickles or castizo tapas; also in spritz or light combinations when red vermouth with more freshness than classic litre Zarro is wanted. The official shop presents it as balance between tradition and citrus vibration, ideal for terrace and domestic consumption in 75 cl bottle. Pairs with conservas, soft cheeses and salty appetisers in the brand's style.

Production context

Bodegas Sanviver makes Zarro in Fuenlabrada (C/ Hinojosa del Duque 26-28) with selected wines and up to 32 spices in the family recipe, macerated and infused in American oak barrels for variable periods according to each botanical —process documented in specialised press on the bodega. Vermut con Naranja adds natural orange extracts to that base, with legal denomination 'Vermut con Naranja'. 15% vol., 75 cl. Zarro range extended with white, reserva, gran reserva, organic, alcohol-free, Especial Taberna and this citrus reference. Export to more than twenty countries; 'vivir Zarro, sentir Madrid' as brand motto. For Vermutpedia, Zarro Naranja synthesises the citrus extension of Madrid vermouth: Muñecas recipe, barrel, orange extracts and verifiable tasting at tienda.elvermutdemadrid.com.
