Overall impression

Dos Déus Origins White is the white vermouth of the Origins range of Priorat B&D Lab, conceived as a calm sea —soft, refreshing, with a fusion of typical Mediterranean aromas— and associated with Poseidon, god of the sea, according to prioratlab.com. Made in Bellmunt del Priorat with 100% Muscatel and 38 natural herbs and spices: thyme, sage, chamomile and vanilla, among others. Sweet notes come from Muscatel, which brings a full nose and mouth sensation with clean finish. 15% vol., 750 ml. Silver medal San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021; Vinari Awards gold 2021 — White Vermouth. For Vermutpedia, it represents Priorat Mediterranean white vermouth: aromatic, voluminous and balanced, sibling of Origins Dry White (Zeus, Macabeo) and the Estrelles/Reserva line.

Nose and palate

The official sheet describes on the nose Mediterranean aromas —Muscatel grape, elderflower and thyme— that merge with spice such as clove and nutmeg. On the palate Mediterranean nuances intensify, highlighting thyme, marjoram and wormwood; on entry it is sweet and voluminous, balanced by high acidity and intermediate bitterness, with a clean mouth sensation. The finish highlights long persistence of Mediterranean notes. Muscatel brings generous natural sweetness without industrial added sugar; high acidity avoids heaviness and maintains freshness. Compared with Origins Dry White —drier, more powerful and spiced— White is more floral, herbal and aperitivo. The 15% vol. supports structure in spritz and white cocktails. In the glass, Muscatel unctuousness and the thyme-chamomile herbal layer stand out; spiced aftertaste closes with elegance. A white for palates seeking Mediterranean vermouth with Vinari and SFWS awards.

How to serve it

Priorat B&D Lab proposes Origins White in Mex God (mezcal, vermouth, pear, lime, agave), white Manhattan (rye whisky or mezcal, vermouth, Spanish cider, orange bitter) and Oh my God! (Fino, vermouth, lemon bitter, ginger ale, mint). Serve very cold with ice and fresh herbs, or in Mediterranean spritz with sparkling wine and soda. Temperature between 6 and 8 °C; in balloon or wide tumbler. Also in white Martini or solo with lemon twist. Works in terrace aperitivo with aromatic profile and voluminous sweetness. Pairs with salads, fresh cheeses and light tapas. Not a dry bar vermouth: it shines in social aperitivo and Mediterranean cocktails. For tasting, a cocktail glass without ice allows appreciation of thyme and Muscatel persistence. For Vermutpedia, it fits Catalan aperitivo sessions with a Priorat stamp.
