Overall impression
Biermú Rojo has been a pioneer of vermouth in Castilla y León since 2002: Prada a Tope macerates 100% organic Mencía red wine from Palacio de Canedo with more than 30 different herbs —orange peel, thyme, cinnamon, wormwood and other botanicals—, sugar and wine alcohol, according to the official dossier. Vineyards on Canedo hillsides (600–800 m), organic viticulture certified CAECYL since 2003. Awards: Brussels International Competition Gold 2018, Bacchus Silver 2020, Wine Up Gold 2021 and Vinespaña Gold 2024.
Nose and palate
Great aromatic complexity and a fine balance of sweet, bitter and balsamic flavours from the herbs in its composition —the house's official description.
How to serve it
Neat as an aperitivo or with savoury or sweet snacks. House serve: two ice cubes and a lemon slice.
Production context
Made and bottled in Canedo by Prada a Tope S.A. (Palacio de Canedo, Arganza, León) on organic estate Mencía; maceration with more than 30 herbs, 15% vol., 75 cl bottle (boxes of 6). Completes the Biermú range alongside the Godello and Chardonnay white. Historic reference of artisan vermouth in El Bierzo with international recognition documented in the official dossier.
