Overall impression

Donzell 2022 is the atypical «vermut» of Marc and Adrià Pérez (Les Cousins, Porrera, DOQ Priorat): aromatised wine on an organic rosé base of Garnacha and Cariñena from La Pinyana estate, macerated six months in a wooden foudre with fresh wild herbs gathered in the surrounding forest. «Donzell» is wormwood in Catalan, the key botanical for vermouth bitterness. No added alcohol or concentrates; only organic white sugar.

Nose and palate

Highly aromatic, with red fruit and Mediterranean herbs—rosemary, thyme, fennel, lavender, almond and wormwood—plus citrus peel. Balanced on the palate, rather dry and bitter, with herbaceous and citrus notes; elegant and surprising against classic fortified vermouth.

How to serve it

Between 10 and 12 °C with an orange slice and ice, as a light aperitif. Also available in 1 L and bag-in-box in the same range.

Production context

Les Cousins project since 2008 in Porrera, made at Cims de Porrera. 15.5% vol. natural from the base wine, 2022 vintage, 75 cl. Sold alongside Genciana 2022 and author wines L'Inconscient or Sagesse at the Family Wines shop.
