Overall impression

Osborne Red Vermouth is the historic Jerez vermouth of Bodegas Osborne, a house founded in 1772 and a reference of the Marco de Jerez. According to the winery, it starts from the house's renowned Medium and Pedro Ximénez wines, made in criaderas y soleras system with American oak and macerated with typical Andalusian botanicals. It is Osborne's classic vermouth reference, distinct from the Domingo and Nordés ranges of the same group. Mahogany-red colour with orange glints; semisweet, unctuous and velvety profile. Sole modality of the Osborne Vermouth brand — Domingo and Nordés are separate lines. For Vermutpedia, it represents traditional solera Jerez red: Medium, PX, wormwood, dictamnus (hierba gitanera), cinnamon, nutmeg and bitter orange peel over notes of dried fruit and raisins. 15% vol., 75 cl. Genuinely Andalusian aperitif, heir to Osborne vermouth tradition in Jerez de la Frontera since 1772.

Nose and palate

Osborne's sheet describes mahogany-red colour with orange glints. On the nose emerge wormwood, dictamnus (hierba gitanera), cinnamon, nutmeg and bitter orange peel over a Jerez background of Medium and Pedro Ximénez — notes of dried fruit, raisins and solera wood in American oak. Andalusian botanicals integrate with the generous base: PX sweetness, Medium structure, herbal bitterness of wormwood and dictamnus. On the palate it is unctuous, velvety and persistent; sweet-bitter balance is harmonious, with a long finish of spices and bitter citrus. Solera adds depth and oxidative layers typical of the Marco. Compared with La Copa Rojo or commercial red vermouths, Osborne bets on house tradition and explicit Andalusian botanicals. Silky texture, 15% vol., accessible semisweet register. Dictamnus brings herbaceous nuances typical of the south. A red for those seeking PX, Jerez solera and classic Andalusian aperitif in a historic Osborne bottle.

How to serve it

Osborne recommends serving Red Vermouth with ice and a slice of fresh orange — genuinely Andalusian aperitif format that enhances the bitter orange peel of the maceration. Cold temperature, between 6 and 8 °C; in balloon or wide glass. Orange brings fresh citrus; ice refreshes the unctuosity of PX. Also works with green olive or mixed with soda for light aperitif. Pairs with nuts, cheeses, ibéricos and Andalusian tapas — coherent with Jerez aperitif tradition. In cocktailery, it can be used in Negroni or Americano of Andalusian profile when PX sweetness and Osborne botany are sought. On its own, in a cocktail glass, to appreciate solera and dictamnus. For terrace, Jerez bar or domestic aperitif. Coherent with the sole Osborne Vermouth modality and the broader group range (Domingo, Nordés).
