Overall impression

Falset Blanc des de 1912 is the aperitif par excellence of the territory since its formula was defined in 1912. Garnacha blanca and Macabeo with infusion of 120 aromatic plants macerated one year in 500-litre oak bocoyos; the essence is added to the wine, contributing aromas and colour. Sweetness with sugar and fortification with wine alcohol to 16.5% vol.; minimum two years' ageing in 350 hl wooden vats more than a century old, facilitating natural oxidation. For Vermutpedia, it is Montsant-Priorat vermouth with living history: unchanged 1912 recipe, monumental wood ageing and a sweet white profile that defines Catalan aperitif culture around Falset.

Nose and palate

Amber with mahogany reflections and great aromatic intensity from maceration herbs: tobacco, fennel, eucalyptus and thyme. On the palate it is direct but elegant, with balanced sweetness linked to bitterness and a finish of strong personality. Fleshy, with volume and unctuousness; creamy tannins, elegant passage and integrated acidity that brings freshness. Around 110 g/L residual sugar according to the technical sheet — a sweet vermouth with structure and oxidative depth from century-old vats.

How to serve it

Between 15 and 18 °C, with one or two ice cubes, soda and an orange slice; also solo, well chilled. Pairs with arbequina olives, crisps, cockles, tinned seafood, ibérico ham and croquettes — the classic Falset aperitif spread documented by the cooperative.
