Overall impression

Perucchi Gran Reserva is the Badalonese house's best seller and the emblem of Spain's first vermouth, created by Don Augustus Perucchi in 1876. Three years in a solera system within 9,000-litre vats with mothers from 1876; in every bottle there is a small percentage of vermouth more than 150 years old. More than fifty natural botanicals, no preservatives or colourants, in the same artisan recipe that has made Perucchi a supplier to the Royal Household.

Nose and palate

Intense, brilliant gold with ruby tones proper to a Gran Reserva. The nose is intense and delicate: an unidentified vegetal blend with oak and dried-fruit finishes, persistent and smooth, evoking the historic vermouths of the Catalan bar. On the palate it is balanced, slightly bitter and very pleasant; the passage is exceptional, with a spectacular finish where aromas and flavours combine in depth. It is the reference tier of the range against one-year Reserva or unaged Rojo.

How to serve it

With ice, orange peel and olive as a classic aperitif; also in a Negroni or Manhattan when seeking a semisweet red with body and solera nobility. Pairs with ibérico ham, aged cheeses and preserves of vermouth hour.

Production context

Made in Badalona with wines and mistelas from Alt Empordà, Valencia and La Mancha. Three-year process in the same century-old vats installed by Augustus Perucchi. Cork stopper from Alt Empordà and beechwood head from Osona. 15% vol., 7º Baumé, 1 litre. The complete range includes Selección Especial (brandy barrels), Reserva, Bianco, Extra Dry and Il Giovane.
