Artisan vermouth

Artisan vermouth is usually made in small batches, with a house recipe and greater direct involvement from the producer. The term alone is not equivalent to a legal certification.

Craftsmanship may show in the choice of base wine, separate macerations or distinctive ageing. Without process details, “artisan” can also work merely as a marketing claim.

It is worth weighing origin, ingredients, scale and traceability, as explained in artisan versus industrial vermouth. Among Spanish styles there are proposals such as Papatán Vermut.
