Léonce Extra Dry
Vermutpedia Score: 7.7/10
Overall impression
Léonce Extra Dry is the first vermouth of the Léonce range (2018), a tribute to Léonce Récapet, great-grandfather of François Lurton. Made «as a wine» on Sauvignon Blanc from Domaine des Fumées Blanches (Gers), fortified with eau-de-vie from the same grape and botanicals from maceration or distillation.
Nose and palate
Golden colour. An explosive nose of citrus—pink grapefruit, lemon, orange peel—followed by violet and sage. Round on the palate with lychee and bitter orange; a bitter finish of liquorice and wormwood.
How to serve it
Very cold, neat, over ice or with premium tonic. Official cocktails: Spritz (6 cl Léonce / 4 cl sparkling wine / 2 cl soda) or Nuit Blanche (4 cl Sorgin + 4 cl Léonce).
Production context
Sixteen percent alcohol, 75 cl. Botanicals: pink grapefruit, bitter orange, mandarin, lemon, lychee, violet, liquorice, wormwood and sage. First reference of the range before Maury and Argentine Malbec.
