Overall impression

Vermutpedia is re-evaluating the Italian catalogue; the Vermutpedia Score for this entry remains pending until the new tasting round is complete. High Life Bianco was born from the historic 1870 recipe signed by Egidio Isolabella: Turin IGP white vermouth based on Moscato d'Asti — with Cortese according to distributor sheets — and a bouquet of 36 officinal plants, spices and aromatic herbs. Relaunched at Borgo Isolabella, Loazzolo (Alta Langa) by Lodovico, Maria Teresa, Luigi and Francesco Isolabella, faithful to the original spirit but with lower alcohol and greater roundness. The 50 cl bottle carries Marcello Dudovich's iconic Pierrot-and-grapes label; Egidio was supplier to the Royal Household in 1906 and the formula survived the Milan plant's destruction in 1943.

Nose and palate

According to official house and distributor documentation: amber-yellow colour; intense, elegant aromas recognising coriander, gentle and Roman wormwood, marjoram, yarrow, sandalwood, galangal and blessed thistle among the 36 plants in the blend. On the palate, great balance between sweet and alcoholic parts with a pleasantly bitter finish; an extremely drinkable profile for a white Torinese vermouth of tradition.

How to serve it

Cold neat with an ice cube and orange peel or olive for a refined aperitif; also after dinner as a lighter alternative to intense spirits, or in author cocktails where balance matters. Serve at 6–8 °C according to the house. Once opened, keep cool and consume preferably within one month.

Production context

Moscato d'Asti DOCG wine, white wine, sugar, alcohol and aromatic herb and spice infusion per the official sheet. 16.4% vol. on the bottle label (the house website states 16% and the technical sheet 15.3%). 50 cl format. The house also makes Vermouth di Torino Rosso in the same High Life line. Borgo Isolabella: 11 ha of heroic viticulture among woods at 500 m in Loazzolo.
