Americano

The lighter predecessor of the Negroni: bitter, red vermouth, and soda. A low-alcohol aperitif that is very refreshing.

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Campari
  • 30 ml Red vermouth
  • 60 ml Soda or siphon
  • 1 slice Orange (garnish)

Method

  1. Build in a tall glass over ice: Campari and vermouth first.
  2. Top with cold soda carefully to preserve the bubbles.
  3. Stir gently once to integrate.
  4. Garnish with an orange slice.

Tips

  • Serve very cold; the Americano was born as a terrace aperitif.
  • You can swap soda for artisan sparkling water for more texture.
