9diDANTE Inferno Vermouth Superiore Rosso

9diDANTE

Piamonte , Italia

Overall impression

Vermutpedia is re-evaluating the Italian catalogue; this entry's Vermutpedia Score remains pending until the new tasting round is complete. Inferno opens the Divina Commedia trilogy by 9diDANTE: a Vermouth di Torino Superiore IGP made with 50% Dolcetto DOC and 50% Cortese DOC, twenty-seven botanicals, and no caramel or carbon filtration according to 9didante.com. Created by Alex Ouziel under the mentorship of master Mario Baralis; made in Alba, Piedmont. Deep ruby colour obtained naturally from the blend of Piedmontese wines.

Nose and palate

Fruity nose with red fruits, cherry and orange. Full body and bold personality; herbs and citrus balanced with a fresh, slightly bitter finish. 9diDANTE redefines the limits of the Italian rosso vermouth with a modern, intriguing profile inspired by Dante's journey through Hell.

How to serve it

On ice with an orange twist, as the house recommends, or in a 'sinful' Negroni and an author Manhattan. Designed to be enjoyed neat; it also brings character to classic cocktails where the vermouth deserves to be named with pride.

Production context

17.5% vol., 75 cl. First reference in the range alongside Purgatorio Extra Dry and Paradiso Rosé. Superiore classification for exclusive use of Piedmontese DOC wines; IGP Vermouth di Torino since 2019. No caramel for colouring, according to the brand's story on 9didante.com.
