Carlo Alberto Vermouth di Torino Bianco
Overall impression
Vermutpedia is re-evaluating the Italian catalogue; the Vermutpedia Score for this entry remains pending until the next tasting round. Riserva Carlo Alberto's Vermouth di Torino Bianco embodies the Piedmontese vermouth tradition that Compagnia dei Caraibi has maintained since the 1837 recipe, when the Baracco family reinterpreted the Savoy court's aperitif wine. Made in Monferrato with Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG base and partially fermented Moscato must, it belongs to the Vermouth di Torino Superiore category and shares the floral elegance of the range alongside the Rosso and Extra Dry. 16% vol., 75 cl. Founding member of the Consorzio di Tutela del Vermouth di Torino. Bottles inspired by Turin architecture — Palazzo Madama, Art Nouveau, Gran Madre — signal the house's Torinese identity.
Nose and palate
A luminous and fine profile: white flowers, elderflower and fruit in syrup with citrus nuances. Gentian and acidic botanicals balance the initial sweetness and deliver a lively, bitter and persistent finish. Silky texture, measured sweetness and recognisable personality both in the glass and in mixology. Compared with industrial Piedmont whites, Carlo Alberto Bianco bets on Erbaluce and Moscato must, Superiore discipline and two centuries of Baracco family transmission. A floral, elegant white that invites aperitivo alone or in precise cocktails without losing its Torinese character.
How to serve it
Neat or with soda, very cold; also in Dry Martini, Vesper or white Americano when you want a Torinese vermouth with floral character without losing bitter freshness. Serve between 8 and 10 °C in a wide glass or coupe with ice and a lemon twist. The gentian and acidic botanicals reward cold service that preserves the lively finish. Pairs with light Piedmont appetisers, olives and soft cheeses. For mixology, its measured sweetness and floral depth make it a sophisticated substitute for generic bianco in contemporary Torinese cocktails.
