Gamondi Vermouth di Torino Superiore Bianco
Overall impression
Vermutpedia is re-evaluating the Italian catalogue; the Vermutpedia Score for this entry remains pending until the new tasting round is complete. Gamondi Vermouth di Torino Superiore Bianco is the white peak of Gamondi Spirits' vermouth range — historic Piedmont brand recovered by the Toso family in Cossano Belbo, heir to herbalist Carlo Gamondi's recipe (1890) — and the fourth and final vermouth reference of the house. According to gamondi.it, it is born from a blend of 100% Piedmont wines with 51% Moscato d'Asti DOCG, aromatised with infusions of Piedmont absinthe, herbs, spices and fresh bitter orange peel. Floral absinthe and elderflower notes, cardamom, pepper and cinnamon spices, and delicate Madagascar vanilla sweetness. Traditional Piedmont aperitif, fresh and floral, with traditionally Piedmont character and new floral soul. 17% vol., 1 L. For Vermutpedia, it represents author Vermouth di Torino Superiore bianco: Moscato DOCG, botanicals in separate infusions and elegant profile for aperitif or contemporary mixology. Distinct from Rosso and standard Bianco, it bets on aromatic refinement and Gamondi heritage.
Nose and palate
Gamondi's sheet describes a fresh, floral vermouth, with absinthe, elderflower and sweet spice notes such as cardamom, pepper and cinnamon, completed by Madagascar vanilla sweetness. Herbaceous and spiced senses, with delicate sweetness that balances the characteristic bitter aftertaste of Vermouth di Torino. Moscato d'Asti DOCG brings floral aromaticity and ripe fruit that neutral white wines cannot reach; separate infusions — absinthe, vanilla, elderflower, clary sage, marjoram, thyme, coriander — preserve each botanical's essence. On the palate it is round, elegant and persistent, with integrated bitterness and vanilla finish. Compared with Superiore Rosso (18% vol., amber, cinchona and bitter orange) or standard Bianco (16% vol.), Superiore Bianco is more floral, more refined and with lower alcohol relative to red superiore. A white for those seeking Vermouth di Torino with Moscato soul and oriental spices. The house recommends serving it cold or on ice.
How to serve it
Gamondi recommends Superiore Bianco excellent served solo, with ice or as a base for surprising cocktails; serve cold or on ice, according to the official shop gamondi.es. Classic Piedmont aperitif in low glass or very cold wine glass; floral, spiced profile dialogues with olives, grissini and soft cheeses. In contemporary mixology, it brings vanilla, elderflower and cardamom to white Martini, Bamboo or author creations seeking Vermouth di Torino with Moscato. The 1 L format invites professional bar and generous domestic consumption. Temperature between 4 and 6 °C; avoid excess ice that would dilute floral notes. Not anonymous soda vermouth: it shines solo or in cocktails where vermouth is protagonist. For tasting, cocktail glass without ice allows appreciation of absinthe and Madagascar vanilla. Coherent with Gamondi's cocktail programme and the four-vermouth di Torino range.
