Rosso / red

Rosso or red vermouth is a sweet or medium-sweet, spiced and bitter style whose colour usually comes from caramel rather than red grapes.

It is the classic style of the Mediterranean aperitif and of cocktails such as the Negroni. Frequent notes include cinnamon, clove, citrus, vanilla and bitter herbs.

The article on red, white and dry compares their profiles. To explore references, see the best red vermouths or Yzaguirre Clásico Rojo.
