Overall impression

Vermutpedia is re-evaluating the Italian catalogue; this entry's Vermutpedia Score remains pending until the new tasting round is complete. Antica Torino Bianco revives a family recipe from the 1940s–50s, the legacy of the prozio of Paola Rogai — the house's office manager — according to anticatorino.com. Vittorio Zoppi and Filippo Antonelli founded Antica Torino in 2016 to rescue Piedmontese aromatised wines; the Bianco expands the range alongside the Rosso and the Dry. Less alcoholic than the rosso, with floral and liquorice notes, delicately spiced, refreshing and digestive.

Nose and palate

Straw-yellow colour. Expressive floral and liquorice notes, lightly spiced; round, refreshing and pleasant entry. Declared ingredients: wormwood, marjoram, sage, coriander, iris and liquorice — the latter macerated separately for its unique aromatic character — Italian white wine, alcohol and beet sugar.

How to serve it

A versatile base for classic cocktails or for sipping with a sage leaf and ice, as recommended by the house. Also in a Vesper or Martini; with soda and lemon as an aperitivo serve.

Production context

16% vol., 165 g/L of sugar. Botanical maceration in 96° alcohol for 30 days; liquorice macerated separately; affinamento 45–60 days in steel and 30–45 days in bottle. Antica Torino project since 2016, Turin.
