Arudi Vermouth di Torino Rosso

Arudi

Torino , Italia

Overall impression

Vermutpedia is re-evaluating the Italian catalogue; the Vermutpedia Score for this entry remains pending until the next tasting round. Arudi Vermouth di Torino Rosso revives the Premiata Fabbrica Liquori e Vermouth Martino Balbo (1916) from Giulio Arudi's manual (1923), reinterpreted by Max and Mirna Bernardini (Vertosan). Amber red evokes the velvet of Turin cafés of the era. Key botanicals include absinthe, sweet orange, rhubarb and elderflower.

Nose and palate

Dark amber with bright mahogany rim. Intense, complex nose: wormwood and elderflower with cardamom and orange peel; spiced touches of coriander and vanilla over quinine bark notes. On the palate, sweet aromas balanced by bitter wood and fine spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove); rhubarb root brings a long, elegant, persistent finish.

How to serve it

At 12–16 °C, neat at aperitivo hour or with ice and orange or lemon peel; also with a splash of soda. Excellent in Mi-To and Americano.

Production context

Made under the Vermouth di Torino specification. 17% vol., 75 cl. Arudi range: Rosso, Bianco, Dry and bitter. Legal seat in Turin (Via Bertolotti, 7).
